I have played all the aforementioned games at one point or another and Eve was by far the one I enjoyed most. There are loads of trials lying around so I recommend you find one and see what you think. It's a bitch to learn but it's pretty fun once you figure out whats going on. If you desperately need something then your best bet is probably Eve as that has the fewest actual issues. APB is average (review here) but seeing as Realtime Worlds just got declared bankrupt I wouldn't invest anything into their game as they might not be around for long. The Cryptic MMOs (Star Trek Online, Champions Online) I both found to be badly put together with little scope for group play unless you actively seek it out, and a general lack of polish. Eve online is a great game but is very slow and restrictive as to what you can accomplish in any given period of time. Aion is a grindy weird Korean MMO that is too similar to WoW for it's own good - I spent most of the time comparing it to WoW and it was consistently worse. Great Squidoo btw, but there's many more games that share similarities to RS, as MMOGs are a huge gamer base, with thousands of games to cater to millions and millions of online gamers.I have also been looking for a long time for a decent alternative, and the best answer is - there isn't any.
Also, I've played quite a few of these and just because the videos don't show any of the non-combat material doesn't mean that it isn't there(usually because its not as complex as Jagex makes RuneScape's skilling system, its usually much easier in most games). Singerlovelife on February 16, runescape is the most powerful one.Īnonymous on January 11, not true lol you are a complete idiot.Īnonymous on January 06, lol john, even WoW has cooking and crafting, so you can't say that these games are "clones" of Blizzard games if they are only hack&slash. No one will ever make a game like Runescape because it has already been made
When players say they want a game like Runescape they mean a game with many skills and activities around a character not just picking a class, its being a hunter today and a lumberjack tomarrow. An mmo made in java is not a Runescape clone it's a java game. There are no other games like Runescape, No one seems to understand that graphic style and world styles have nothing to do with playing Runescape.
this list is like adventure quest (don't make me laugh, trying to put that up there with one of the world's most popular games) and diablo clones which the majority got bored of about a decade ago. only thing that lets runescape down is the pasty java graphics and burn out from repetition. sure some of them have good graphics and you can grind your heart out, but runescape is so much more than that, loads of useful skills to train be it combat, making your own weapons armour potions and loads of stuff that has nothing to do with combat, massive community and clans, loads of quests bother easy and challenging. None of these games are even remotely anything like runescape, or anywhere near as good for that matter.
